Free for Charity magazine began as Three For Free magazine in 2001 as a fun project to showcase work for pure enjoyment. Each issue had a different theme open to interpretation. The only rules are:
No Photography
No Fashion
No Life Style
From these rules we have been able to move in a direction that allows us to show work from all over the world, each issue is a snapshot of the work being produced by many different creative fields. The work in each issue is created especially for Three.
Six editions later, one of the founders of Three for Free moved to South Africa and became aware of humanitarian causes in need of funding. The magazine evolved into Free for Charity. The aim now is the same, showcasing new creative work, but also to raise money for good causes. Each issue will aid a different charity through the sale of magazine artwork.
Three has had hundreds of contributors over the years, and this site brings them all together in one place as a collective. Everyone who has contributed to the magazine is invited to be a member. This is the only way in. Sorry Mum.
We’ve been holding out on you. That’s right. Holding out. We’ve kept some of the lovely Mental Health Sketchbooks back to sell online. Sell you say? SELL? I thought it was free? Well, it is free, but what we’re after is 5 pounds of your cash to cover postage, which should leave us with a decent amount to give to SANE, an amazing mental health charity that survive only on people’s charity.
Books are limited to one per person as we don’t have many left, and we can ONLY SEND TO THE UK. I know this sucks, but there it is. The book is beautiful and well worth the fiver to get it sent. We’ll let you know what we manage to give to Sane out of that money when we’ve ran out of books.
